Boomer, listening to the broadcast on ESPN, heard Joe Buck detail a conversation between himself and Brian Daboll about Daniel Jones, and he found it very concerning.
“He said he was talking to Brian Daboll…and Brian Daboll said to [Buck], and I believe I heard this right, but it just kind of shocked me. They were talking about Daniel Jones, and Brian Daboll says ‘I am always up, I am always into it, I have the energy. I just have to get him going,’” Boomer said. “Did the head coach just say he needs to get his quarterback going, who they paid $41 million to?
“That tells me there are frustrations behind the scenes.”
Buck said of Daboll during the broadcast, "He told us, 'I'm the guy that's always fired up, trying to get Daniel Jones fired up," which Boomer thought was a big warning sign.
Gio believes that isn’t a good look for Jones, if Daboll feels he needs to talk Jones up before games, but he isn’t sure what the Giants expect after being familiar with the quiet quarterback for years.
“That is a huge indictment on Daniel Jones, coming from his head coach, and you hate to hear that,” Gio said. “But you knew exactly who this guy was when you gave him the contract. He has not changed one bit…he’s been a flatliner forever.
“This isn’t a surprise of who Daniel Jones is…he wasn’t bouncing around like Philip Rivers last year, and then all of a sudden came in like a zombie. This guy has been a wet noodle since the second he got here.”
