Boomer wondered if a quarterback controversy could be brewing after Tyrod Taylor and the Giants did just enough to beat the Commanders on Sunday, but Gio isn’t buying it, mainly because he doesn’t see much of a difference between either quarterback.
So, if both quarterbacks are giving equal chances to win, Gio sees Big Blue sticking with the quarterback they paid to be the starter, and the quarterback he believes has more upside.
“I don’t think Tyrod Taylor is much better than Daniel Jones, and I don’t think Daniel Jones is that much better than Tyrod Taylor,” Gio said. “I don’t think it changes much with either one of them.
“This isn’t like Zach Wilson and Mike White last year, when there was a decided difference in quarterback play. I think both of these guys are equally as good at winning a game for the Giants as the other one.”
Gio agrees that Taylor has put the Giants in a good spot to win the last two weeks, but he doesn’t believe the outcomes would have been much different if Jones was under center.
“He’s been fine,” Gio said of Taylor. “But it’s not like he came in here and set the world on fire.”
