The third touchdown for a New York team on Sunday was the third first – this time, the Giants’ Daniel Bellinger, whose first NFL catch was a 16-yard TD grab from Daniel Jones:

Rookies Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall had scored for the Jets in the first half of their game in Cleveland earlier in the day, recording their first NFL scores, and on the Giants’ first drive of the second half against Carolina, it was Bellinger’s turn.

Bellinger, a fourth-round pick from San Diego State who became TE1 when Ricky Seals-Jones went on IR and Jordan Akins was released, was shut out on 29 snaps in the Giants’ Week 1 win and again in the first half of Sunday’s game – but his first NFL grab came on a TE Flat play on second-and-10 from the Panthers’ 16, and the rookie took it all the way to the house, extending the nose of the ball over the goal line before being marked down.

Despite being the top tight end on the depth chart, it had been a rough first seven quarters for Bellinger so far before that grab. Tanner Hudson had two catches for 22 yards on Sunday before Bellinger got on the board, while Chris Myarick had the only grab by a tight end in Week 1, the one-yard TD catch that led to the game-winning two-point conversion.
