Saquon Barkley made it clear when speaking with reporters on Thursday that he did not want to be traded, and according to multiple reports, the star running back will get his wish.
Per reports, the Giants have no intention of dealing Barkley before the trade deadline, and will keep their top offensive weapon through the season.
Barkley missed three games with an ankle injury this season after rushing for over 1,000 yards a year ago. He logged 93 yards on the ground in Week 6 against the Bills, and broke out for a 32-yard touchdown reception on Sunday to give Big Blue a 14-0 lead in the first half over Washington.
New York, entering Sunday at 1-5 on the season, felt like a candidate to sell at the deadline, and Barkley would have been an obvious piece to bring assets back in a deal. But an offense that just scored its first touchdown since Week 3 dealing away its top playmaker would have likely led to an all-out tank the rest of the way, and it seems as if the Giants will try and turn things around.
Barkley can be franchise tagged again this offseason, as he continues to look for a long-term deal.
