As the Giants make their final preparations for their regular season finale against the Eagles on Sunday, it seems that things are trending towards Brian Daboll and company sitting their key starters to stay fresh for the playoffs.
According to multiple reports, Big Blue is expected to sit “key players” on Sunday, as New York is locked into the sixth seed, regardless of Sunday’s outcome. Philadelphia still has something to play for with the NFC East title on the line, but the Giants will reportedly be prioritizing health before their most important game in six years.
The Giants have battled several injuries this season, and with the injury histories of Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, they will each be expected to sit out, despite some believing the Giants would benefit more by going all in for the win and not take their foot off the gas before the playoffs.
Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported that some Giants players have already been told they will be kept out of Sunday’s game, though Daboll has been playing things close to the chest while speaking with reporters at practice this week.
New York is currently slated to travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings in what would be the team’s first postseason game since 2016.
