Kadarius Toney was on the field for just two snaps in the first half of the Giants upset victory over the Titans in Week 1, and logged just seven total to begin his sophomore season.
The former first-round pick, who has battled injuries for much of his young NFL career, didn’t seem too interested in discussing his playing time, but made it clear that he isn’t making the decisions, and only cares about getting a win.
“I get paid to play, not coach," Toney said. "I don't know what the plan was. At the end of the day, I have to prepare as if I was going and playing every play. I don't know what else to say.”
Asked if he was disappointed with his small amount of playing time, Toney pushed back.
“Disappointed in victory? Disappointed in a victory?” Toney said. “You sound crazy. At the end of the day, I did my job, I get paid to do one thing. Do my job, bro.
“If I played two plays, one play and we win - I don’t really care nothing about getting no - it’s okay. You want a dollar?”
Head coach Brian Daboll maintained that the wide receiver outlook is “competitive,” but after still seeing little time after rookie receiver Wan’Dale Robinson left with an injury in Week 1, plenty of eyes will be on Toney moving forward to see if he sees more of the field.
