The Giants’ frustrating loss to the Falcons on Sunday was only worsened by an injury nightmare.
Linebacker Blake Martinez and wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton all left with injuries in the first half of New York’s 17-14 loss to Atlanta at home.

Martinez went down to the turf on a non-contact play after missing a tackle, and was quickly ruled out with a knee injury. The co-captain is one of the team’s defensive anchors, logging over 140 tackles in each of the last four years.

Shepard, who logged 113 and 94 receiving yards, respectively, through the Giants’ first two games, was later ruled out, as was Slayton, who caught a touchdown pass in last week’s loss to Washington.
It almost seemed to get even worse when Saquon Barkley hobbled to the sidelines and was looked at by the training staff, but he returned to action and leaped over a pile for his first touchdown since 2019, one of a few bright spots in a season already slipping away for Big Blue.
