The Giants made a major splash on the defensive side of the ball on Monday, reportedly trading for dynamic Panthers pass rusher Brian Burns for a second and fifth-round pick.
Big Blue was reportedly in talks with Carolina earlier Monday evening, but needed to come to terms on a long-term deal with Burns to make the trade happen. That hurdle has reportedly been cleared, as Burns will sign a five-year, $150 million deal with $87.5 million guaranteed.
Burns, 25, has 46 career sacks across five seasons, and logged 8.0 sacks in 16 starts last season. He is a two-time Pro Bowler who had a career-high 12.5 sacks in 2022.
With the acquisition of Burns, the Giants now boast a defensive front that includes Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
