Giants reportedly releasing quarterback Tommy DeVito

The Tommy DeVito era is reportedly over in New York.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Giants have released the former quarterback sensation, electing to stick with three quarterbacks rather than four heading into the season. DeVito will now be placed on waivers.

The undrafted New Jersey native took Giants fans by storm in 2023, filling in for the injured Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor and winning three straight games, capped off by a game-winning drive against the Packers on Monday Night Football. His Jersey roots and sudden fame made him the talk of the town for the rest of the season, finishing with 1,101 passing yards and eight touchdowns.

DeVito appeared in three games the following season, completing 31 of 44 passes for 257 yards.

The 27-year-old went out with a bang as a Giant, completing 17 of 20 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns against the Patriots in Big Blue’s final preseason game on Thursday night.

New York will roll with Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and rookie Jaxson Dart in their quarterback room moving forward.
