Saquon Barkley spent part of his bye week attending former teammate Odell Beckham Jr.’s birthday party, but there wasn’t much talk about recruitment to bring the free agent wide receiver back to New York.
“He knows how I feel, and how we feel in the locker room,” Barkley told reporters on Friday. “He’s a heck of a player…he’s a special player and he’s still got a lot left in the tank.
“When he is able to come back, he’s gonna show his skills. He’s Odell. He’s a heck of a player. When he’s healthy, one of the best players in the league. Who wouldn’t want him?”
The Cowboys have certainly made their interest clear, with multiple players tweeting or saying publicly that they would love to have him in the fold. Barkley doesn’t need to indirectly make his pitch, joking “I don’t have to tweet at him,” but he doesn’t believe a sales pitch is necessary. The story would write itself.
“I feel like there’s not really a sales pitch. It’s New York. It’s the Giants,” Barkley said. “I think it would be a great story to come back to a place he was before and continue to build success.”
