The New York Giants have reportedly added a new running back, signing ex-Raider and Bronco Devontae Booker to a two-year, $6 million deal per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Booker, 29, had 93 carries for 423 yards and three touchdowns, as well as 17 catches for 84 yards, with the Raiders last season as one of Josh Jacobs’ backups. Prior that, he had spent his first four NFL seasons in Denver – he was the Broncos’ fourth-round pick in 2016 – and had 1,103 rushing yards, 872 receiving yards, and five total touchdowns in 61 games.

Former No. 2 overall pick Saquon Barkley is expected to return from a torn ACL for the 2021 season, but the Giants’ running back room was virtually empty behind him. Wayne Gallman, who spent four years with Big Blue and led the team with 682 rushing yards and six rushing TD last season in Barkley’s absence, is an unrestricted free agent, as are Alfred Morris and Dion Lewis, while Devonta Freeman was waived in January.

The only other back besides that quartet and Barkley – who had 25 touches for 94 total scrimmage yards before his injury – to see any touches last season was fullback Eli Penny, who had six carries for 15 yards and two catches for 20 yards.
