It appears as if the Giants are adding another “Daboll guy” to their staff.

Per a report from The Charlotte Observer, the Giants will be hiring Tony Sparano Jr. as an assistant offensive line coach, the same position he had held with the Carolina Panthers in 2021.

Sparano Jr.’s first NFL job, back in 2011, was as an offensive quality control coach with the Dolphins, where his late father, Tony Sparano Sr., was the head coach – but Giants head coach Brian Daboll was the offensive coordinator on that team, and new GM Joe Schoen was a national scout.

The 35-year-old junior Sparano, who was a defensive end at the University of Albany as a player, began his coaching career in 2010 with the Hartford Colonials of the now-defunct United Football League. After his one season in Miami, he spent 2012-14 as an intern and offensive assistant with the Jets (his father was the Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2012), then spent two years as the Bills’ tight ends coach and four as an assistant offensive line coach in Jacksonville before joining Carolina last season.

The Giants have now hired or reportedly hired a large chunk of Daboll’s staff. So far, Mike Kafka and Don “Wink” Martindale have been added as offensive and defensive coordinators (while retaining special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey), while Sparano adds to an offensive staff including offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney, tight ends coach Andy Bischoff – the former two joining Daboll from Buffalo – and potentially wide receivers coach Adam Henry.

On the defensive side of the ball, it is rumored that secondary coaches Jerome Henderson and Mike Treier will return, with multiple reports that Martindale will bring former Ravens assistants Rob Ryan and Drew Wilkins and ex-NFL linebacker Bryan Cox with him to help round out his staff.
