The Giants are getting set to roll with Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback in Week 1 on Sunday, as the franchise once again will try and figure out if the former sixth overall pick is worthy of long-term investment.

But according to ESPN, the new Big Blue regime made an effort to bring in a much more established quarterback during the offseason.

According to Brady Henderson, New York was one of multiple teams to call the Seahawks about a potential Russell Wilson trade, joining the Broncos, Commanders, and Saints. Per Henderson, Denver was Wilson’s preferred destination, so only New Orleans was kept around to help drive a bidding war and maximize the return for the star veteran.

Big Blue’s offense would have taken on a much different look if Wilson were under center rather than Jones, but instead, Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will see what they have in Jones, who is entering a critical season that may very well decide his Giants future.
