The Giants used three picks in one in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, trading their fifth-round pick at No. 160 overall and seventh-round selection at No. 240 to Jacksonville to move up one spot and select Maryland DB Deonte Banks at No. 24 overall.
Jacksonville then dealt that pick to Buffalo, who sent the Jags the 27th and 130th picks to move up from 27 to 25 to select Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid.
Big Blue addresses a need in the secondary to help compete with high-level wide receivers in the NFC East, like A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Terry McLaurin, and CeeDee Lamb.
Banks, 22, played 30 games in his collegiate career, logging 83 tackles, two interceptions, and 13 pass defenses. He earned an honorable mention for All-Big Ten last season.
The selection of Banks gives Wink Martindale another weapon heading into next season.
