Giants trade up into first round to take quarterback Jaxson Dart
The Giants traded up to get another pick in the first round, and did so to take who they hope will be their franchise quarterback of the future.
But it was not Shedeur Sanders.
New York took Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick after orchestrating a trade with the Rams in a somewhat surprising move given Sanders and Jalen Milroe still being available.
The Giants taded up to the 25th overall pick in exchange for the 34th and 99th pick, in addition to a 3rd-round pick in the 2026 draft.
The prize was Dart, who threw for 4,279 yards with 29 touchdowns and six interceptions last season. He also spent time at USC.
Dart is the first quarterback the Giants have drafted. since drafting Daniel Jones sixth overall.
Dart joins Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter as Big Blue’s first-round picks in 2026.
