Gio & Jerry: Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen should be given chance to see things through with Giants

As the Giants have bottomed out at 2-8 after a loss to the lowly Panthers on Sunday, questions are intensifying about the futures of Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll.

Is this regime long for the job to try and see Big Blue through this latest rebuild attempt? Gio and Jerry believe they should be given the chance.

“I think this is different. I really do believe this is different,” Gio said. “I know people think I’m crazy when I say this, because this feels like it’s following the same trajectory as the rest of those guys, but not to the point where it feels like the team doesn’t respect the head coach.”

As for the GM, Gio admits that it’s hard to ignore some of the misses in the draft by Schoen, but he still hasn’t been able to draft the one position that he and Daboll were primarily brought here to try and develop: the quarterback.

“It's so hard to build these teams, and if you want to point to one thing that has held the Giants back all these years and you can go, you know, chicken or the egg situation, whatever John Mara hiring Gettleman, hiring Joe Schoen. It's the drafts, man,” Gio said. “There are a lot of big misses from Joe Schoen.”

Jerry is also sticking with this tandem, especially because they still haven’t had a chance to try and replicate what they did in Buffalo with Josh Allen.

“I don’t feel like, at any point, that Brian Daboll has been overmatched,” Jerry said. “You’re gonna tell me you’re gonna bring in Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen, and you’re never gonna let him try to make it work with a quarterback that he wants?”
