Gio: Credit Giants for win, but likely still worst in NFC East

The Giants pulled out an improbable road win on Sunday, taking down the Seahawks in Seattle, a notoriously tough place to get a win.

Big Blue rode a clutch blocked field goal to a 29-20 victory, and had plenty of reason for optimism when it came to Daniel Jones, who completed 23 of 34 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns in the winning effort. The win certainly impressed Gio, but he doesn’t believe it means much in the grand scheme of things for this season.

“Really great Giants win yesterday,” Gio said. “Daniel Jones played well. Not to rain on the parade or be a Debbie Downer, but they’re still probably the worst team in the division.

“What the Commanders are doing is incredible…they can’t beat the Cowboys, and the Cowboys won last night. They never beat the Eagles. It’s tricky because you’re not sure exactly what they are yet, but they’re gonna be better than the Giants.”

The Giants are showing that they can fight to stay in the hunt and not have a season lost in the first month like it was last year, and while Gio believes it won’t lead to postseason contention, the team should still be acknowledged for getting a tough road win and, for the time being, stabilizing itself following a deflating loss to the Cowboys.

“They went in there and won the game. I gotta give them a ton of credit,” Gio said. “Twice now, they got off to miserable starts on the road on crazy plays…and they came back and won those games on the road.”
