Gio has a message for any Giants fans hating on Saquon Barkley for signing with the hated Eagles.
“This guy got more guaranteed money after going through all of this mess with the Giants…and the Eagles are giving him the most guaranteed money, a deal he probably wouldn’t get anywhere else in the NFL. And he cashed in,” Gio said. “Who gives a crap what the color jersey is that he’s putting on if you’re Saquon Barkley?
“Let’s be adults here and understand. Let’s put ourselves in his shoes for a second. If someone is offering you the most money out there, and has been a competitor of yours in any other business, you’re telling me you’re turning it down? My ass!”
Gio says any anger towards Barkley is misguided, and if fans really wanted the running back to stay with the Giants, then the frustration should be directed towards the organization.
“But if a Giant fan is upset that Saquon Barkley went to the Eagles, then be upset with the organization,” Gio said. “Be upset that they didn't trade him at the trade deadline. Be upset that you didn't give him the long-term deal or negotiate with them last year or negotiate with them this year. Be upset there if you wanted Saquon Barkley on the Giants, don't be upset at Saquon Barkley, who said 10 million times, ‘I wanna be a Giant for life.’”
