The Giants are 1-2 heading into a long week before meeting the Seahawks on Monday Night Football next week, and Gio says it will be a chance for Big Blue to show where they really rank among teams in the NFC.
“The Seattle game, if the Giants want to be relevant, they have to win it,” Gio said. “They have two teams in their division that are really, really good. If you look at the last three games they’ve played against the best of the conference. Divisional round against the Eagles: rout. Season opener against the Cowboys: rout. Thursday night was closer than those…but the reality is, it was 30-12.”
The Giants came into the season expecting to be a playoff team after reaching the divisional round last year, but this season hasn’t provided much hope that there can be a repeat of that success. There is still plenty of time to accomplish their goals, but Gio says a loss next Monday would make it clear that another postseason berth is likely not happening in 2023.
“That’s the stark reality now,” Gio said. “That’s the question Brian Daboll and the fanbase needs to ask themselves: can we be good enough to get ourselves into the playoffs?”
