The Giants logged another win on Sunday, beating the lowly Patriots one week after shocking the Commanders on the road.
The wins have led to a craze for New Jersey native Tommy DeVito, but Gio says these wins are hurting the franchise in the long run, just how last year’s wins did, only in a different way.
“They’re the only team, the winning they did last year and this year is hurting them,” Gio said. “Last year, them winning and beating the Vikings and the playoffs have Daniel Jones $40 million. Now they they’re winning, they’re taking themselves out of the top two or three picks in the draft, and they’re gonna have to bring him back.”
Gio says the Giants new regime clearly thought they would move on from Jones after last season once they declined his fifth-year option, but Jones putting together a career year and winning a playoff game on the road caused them to change course and sign him to a four-year deal. Now, there is a way out where the Giants could get a top draft pick to take their quarterback of the future, but these recent wins are spoiling that as well.
