Gio opened Monday morning’s show lamenting what appears to be another lost season for the Giants, which has become all-too familiar in New York over the past 12 years.
“It’s another October where the Giants don’t matter,” Gio said. “I started this show in 2018, and every single Giants season outside of last year, they were dead in October.
“It’s sad. It really is. The Giant fan has gotten so many great moments, 2007 and 2011, but outside of that, it’s just stacking miserable season after miserable season, and we are in the midst of another one…just ugly, ugly stuff.”
Last season appears to have been an anomaly, and now, Gio is fighting off the thoughts of Brian Daboll becoming another cautionary tale of promising Giants head coaches flopping after their first season.
“I truly cannot believe that we’re going through this again with another head coach. I don’t want to give up on Brian Daboll,” Gio said. “I don’t want to believe that he’s another guy like Ben McAdoo and Joe Judge. I don’t want to believe that. I don’t think last year was a fluke. I don’t think he’s a bad head coach. But my lord, this is the same stuff we have seen. It’s history repeating itself.
“It’s crazy. It’s depressing…it’s almost like the two championship runs the Giants had in ’07 and ’11, now they’re paying for it with this stuff. It’s like ‘You guys got your moments, now you have to suffer through this garbage.’”
