Tommy DeVito and agent Sean Stellato were mired in controversy this week when Coniglio’s, a pizza place in Morristown, posted on its Instagram that a public appearance and signing with DeVito was called off after Stellato suddenly asked for $20,000 to do the gig rather than the initially agreed upon $10,000.
DeVito and Stellato caught plenty of criticism for the controversy, but Gio isn’t blaming the Giants quarterback.
“No good story can just be a good story. There has to be something to ruin it,” Gio said. “It really is amazing that this had to be made public. If you are the pizza place, I understand people wanted to see Tommy DeVito and it got canceled…why do you have to go out there and put all this stuff out in the street to make it seem like these guys are scummy?
“I can’t sit here and say Tommy DeVito has to take advantage of this opportunity as long as he’s got it, and then criticize them for raising his appearance fee.”
As for Boomer, he says DeVito should simply focus on football, and eventually, he won’t have to worry about an extra $10,000.
“I think Tommy DeVito has played himself into a contract, and he will be on an NFL team whether it’s in New York or not,” Boomer said. “I wouldn’t worry about $10,000 appearances and all that other crap. I would just worry about being the best player I could possibly be. Nobody likes a distraction or a story like this. It becomes embarrassing for everybody.”
