Is Brian Daboll the next New York Giants head coach? According to a couple of NFL reporters, the announcement is a mere formality.
Cam Marino of PlayerProfiler.com tweeted Friday that, quoting a source, the Giants are “infatuated” with Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, and that the head coach decision “is close, but it’ll be Daboll.”
Also, Bobby Thompson of FanSided took to Twitter with a series of tweets that said according to his source, Daboll will indeed be offered the job on Saturday and Daboll plans to accept, and that new GM Joe Schoen told co-owner John Mara from day one that he wanted Daboll:
Later, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, a frequent guest on WFAN, confirmed it all:
The Giants wrapped up their interviews on Friday, having Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier in for his second interview at the team facility. Frazier and Daboll were the only candidates known to have two interviews, as Dan Quinn, Brian Flores, and Patrick Graham had their first interviews in person – with Quinn later deciding to stay in Dallas – and Bengals DC Lou Anarumo was the only candidate to have a virtual-only interview.
