Jerry wants to see Giants brass be clearer in team's expectations for this season

After listening to more comments from Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll on Wednesday, Jerry came away frustrated that Big Blue’s leadership will not directly voice expectations for the team in what is now year three under this current regime.

“If I was the one up there, I would sit there and say ‘If we don’t make the playoffs, then it’s a failure.’ What else are we doing here?” Jerry said. “You gotta get to the postseason first...if you’re not focused on that, then what’s the point?”

Instead, Jerry felt he heard more vague talk from Schoen and Daboll about the state of the team and its rebuild, and he says it should be clearly voiced that this group expects to get back to the playoffs after falling well short in 2023.

“If I’m a fan, that’s what I want to hear,” Jerry said. “I want to hear that my team is confident, and if they’re not a playoff team, then they failed.”

For Willie Colon, he was more understanding, and believes this comes with the territory of being a team in a phase of rebuilding.

“We know if Joe and Daboll go out there and say ‘It’s playoffs or bust,’ and we get to mid-December and they’re barely hanging on,” Willie said. “They’re going to get buried.”
