Gio: Joe Schoen is already bracing Giants fans for another long season

When speaking with the media on Thursday, Giants general manager Joe Schoen said that the team is going to its best with “the hand we were dealt.”

That was all Gio needed to hear to know that Big Blue’s new regime is trying to soften the blow of what will be another trying season.

“Joe Schoen is setting everybody up for what is going to be another long season,” Gio said. “This is what I believe when he says ‘We are going to do the best with what we’ve got.’

“He has said that three or four times already this preseason. He knows when he came in, he was handcuffed…because they were in a bad cap situation, and it’s gonna take a couple years to get the guys in that he wants.”

So, if any Giants fans are hoping a new head coach, a new GM, and a new draft class will bring back some excitement to Big Blue football, Gio says the writing is on the wall that it won’t be happening this season.

“This first year, he is just lowering expectations for all the fans,” Gio said. “‘We’ll get there eventually, but it’s not gonna be this year.’”
