Perhaps it was just nerves, but New York Giants safety Julian Love had quite the take when asked about Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni Thursday.
Appearing on "Good Morning Football," Love took a shot at Sirianni less than two weeks after the Eagles dismantled the Giants in the NFC Divisional Round:
It is true that the 2022-23 Eagles may very well be the most talented roster in franchise history, a testament to general manager Howie Roseman.
At the same time, the Eagles are 25-12 (including the postseason) since Sirianni took over as the head coach in 2021. It took some time, but Sirianni and offensive coordinator Shane Steichen have been able to build an offense that utilizes Jalen Hurts' strengths, specifically his ability to run the football. And while Hurts no doubt deserves praise for his transformation as a passer, Sirianni and his staff have to be given credit for helping the former second-round pick blossom into an MVP candidate in his third NFL season.
It's possible to be a good coach and still benefit from an excellent roster. It's true, Sirianni will likely have tougher seasons in the future when the Eagles are inevitably less talented than now. But if he's holding up a Lombardi Trophy in 10 days, it will be hard to deny his impact on one of the more dominant teams in recent memory.
