Keith is enjoying the Tommy DeVito story, like countless others in the New York/New Jersey area, but he wishes the fun wouldn’t be spoiled by the immediate follow-up from fans that have to debate just how far the Giants quarterback can ride this wave.
For Keith, in all likelihood, DeVito becomes a flash in a pan that can possibly turn his three-game euphoria into a steady backup job in the NFL. But too many fans are taking things too far with thoughts of DeVito being the next Kurt Warner or Brock Purdy, and that just takes away from enjoying the story.
“It’s a great story. It’s the best story that we have in New York football,” Keith said. “But man, do we love to ruin things and get ahead of ourselves. It’s so corny how we have to project and forecast the future of the N ‘If’ L.
“‘If’ he keeps progressing. ‘If’ he keeps performing. ‘If’ they keep winning. ‘If’ they don’t draft a quarterback. ‘If’ Daniel Jones doesn’t come back healthy. If, if, if.”
Keith’s recommendation? Forget about what DeVito could become, and enjoy what DeVito is doing right now.
