Keith: No way Daniel Jones will be ready to start next season

Daniel Jones told reporters at the end of the Giants season that he expects to be ready for Week 1 of next season after undergoing ACL surgery.

Keith, after looking at a recent comp, doesn’t think there is any way that happens.

“Kyler Murray…let’s assume he heals up faster than Daniel Jones, just being a smaller person and having less of an injury history,” Keith said. “Kyler Murray got hurt on Dec. 12, had his surgery on Jan. 3 and returned the to NFL 11 months later on Nov. 12. That’s exactly 313 days.”

What does that mean for Jones? Given the time of his injury and surgery, Keith wonders if Jones could miss as much as three regular season games, and that is with an optimistic mindset.

“Daniel Jones got hurt on Nov. 5, had his surgery on Nov. 22…Oct. 1 is 314 days,” Keith said. “So except Daniel Jones to potentially be ready to play in the NFL as early as late September, probably really October. How can he be the starting quarterback for the New York Giants if he’s not ready for preseason training camp in August?”
