Keith loves the Tommy DeVito story, but in terms of what’s best for the long-term outlook for the Giants, the story can’t get too good to where the team keeps winning games the rest of the way.
“They should be losing these games,” Keith said. “They should be tanking.
“Now you’re slowly starting to see those chances [at a top draft pick] drop. You’re not gonna get one of those top two guys now. But don’t fall so far out of it that you miss out on the next tier of quarterbacks, because they’re gonna go. This is the NFL. Those guys are gonna get drafted…and other teams that like these guys are gonna trade up to get them, even if they have a quarterback.”
Keith still believes the Giants need to draft a franchise quarterback, but two straight wins have seemingly taken them out of the running for a top-two pick, and more wins will move them out of the running to draft a quarterback in the second tier of prospect behind Caleb Williams and Drake Maye.
“I understand there’s this thought of a loser mentality bleeding into the culture of the franchise. Please. Miss me with it,” Keith said. “Let’s just be for real here. They’re not making the playoffs. I don’t care that they’re mathematically in the hunt. Show me that math.”
