McMonigle: Giants set themselves back by winning 'meaningless' game

The Giants have slipped from the No. 1 overall pick to the fourth with Sunday’s win over the Colts, and Chris McMonigle says that victory could set the franchise back years.

New York was in position to take a top quarterback of its choosing in the upcoming draft, but now, it will have to hope that things fall its way in terms of other teams drafting non quarterbacks, or that things will work out in Week 18 to get Big Blue back in the top two.

“The Giants are in a worse spot moving forward next year. There’s no way around it,” C-Mac said. “There’s not. The Giants need a damn quarterback. And that got a hell of a lot more difficult after beating the Colts on Sunday.

“It felt like there was light at the end of the tunnel, and now they take that away from us at the end.”

For C-Mac, is one win in what was a two-win season worth it to potentially now have to trade other valuable draft capital to move back to a spot the Giants had occupied 24 hours earlier? Not even close.

“The fact of the matter is, the Giants getting the better pick is more valuable than going 3-13,” C-Mac said. “That is just a fact.”
