The Giants and Jets announced this week that MetLife Stadium will host fans at full capacity for the upcoming 2021 season, and there will be no rules in place requiring facial coverings, proof of vaccination, or negative tests.
The move comes after spectators were not permitted into MetLife Stadium for either Giants or Jets games last season during the pandemic.
The updated guidance is in keeping with protocols for businesses and large gatherings which were recently updated by the state of New Jersey, the teams said in separate statements on Thursday.
Late last month, Gov. Phil Murphy cleared the way for the 80,000-seat stadium to host at full capacity for the 2021 season, as part of a larger push to fully reopen the Garden State's economy.
However, it was unclear what if any mask and vaccine policies the teams might have of their own, as well as other questions about the gameday experience from the fans' perspective.
To that end, the statements said tailgating will be allowed, and all tickets will be mobile-only. As well, all concession stands will be cash free in an effort to reduce touchpoints, with machines available to convert cash into debit cards.
Further updates will be provided in the coming weeks and months, the teams said.
