Michael Strahan will be the last Giant to wear No. 92, as the franchise announced that his jersey will be retired later this season, but the legendary defensive end found out in unique fashion on Wednesday’s airing of Good Morning America.
A segment of the show was interrupted when a large wooden box was rolled out onto the stage behind Strahan, and when he turned around, former teammate Eli Manning busted out of the box along with blue and white confetti, wearing a No. 92 jersey.
Eli Manning was followed by Justin Tuck and Jessie Armstead, who also came out from backstage wearing Strahan’s jersey, which will be retired on Nov. 28 when New York hosts the Eagles.
Strahan guessed what the surprise was about given the jerseys that his former teammates were wearing, but it was still a humorous way to find out that he will be joining Manning as former Giants legends to have their jerseys retired in the upcoming season.
“I carried all three of these guys throughout their careers,” Strahan joked. “So this works out perfectly.”
