Moose sounds off on caller who wanted Giants to prioritize losing on Sunday
A caller expressed frustration with the Giants, both from a leadership and player perspective, for not making it clear that it would be best for the team to lose on Sunday and maintain its hold on the No. 1 overall pick.
The caller wanted to see players recognize the big picture and literally fumble the game away, but Marc Malusis couldn’t get behind that mindset.
“You’ve got players who could care less about Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, who are not only playing for their Giant careers, but potentially their NFL careers,” Moose said. “And you expect John Mara or Joe Schoen to go into that room and say ‘No guys, we’re gonna lose Sunday.’
“That’s never gonna happen, and nor would I ever want those players on my football team that are going out there and potentially throwing games.”
That being said, Moose agrees that the win did set the Giants back, as today’s NFL makes it pivotal to have a star quarterback under center, but never would he want to see players, coaches, or executives actively try to lose, even if it might help the team in the long run.
“In the end, with that victory, potentially, it put the future of this organization in question,” Moose said. “In the NFL, it’s all about the quarterback.”
