Morash: Brian Daboll, Giants 'obsession' with Shedeur Sanders a 'big problem' heading into draft

Brian Daboll was seen spending a lot of time with Shedeur Sanders at the Shrine Bowl, as he was seen dapping up the projected top-10 draft pick, speaking with him on the practice field, and spoke with him alongside Joe Schoen off the field as well.

According to ESPN, Daboll spent “significant time” with Sanders, and Shaun Morash has a big problem with how public the Giants and Daboll seem to be with their interest in the Colorado product.

“Whatever is going on this week with the scouting at the senior Bowl…they are leaving nothing to the imagination,” Morash said. “Brian Daboll, for the first time, is showing a lot of Dave Gettleman tendencies. How many drafts did that happen where the Giants played their hand and the whole world know what was going on?

“What is with Brian Daboll being Shedeur Sanders’ lap dog? He has followed around Shedeur Sanders like they’re the new version of John C Reilly and Will Ferrell in Step Brothers.”

Schoen and members of the Giants front office went to Colorado earlier in the season to get a look at Sanders, who could be there for the taking at No. 3 overall if he does not go to Tennessee or Cleveland. But both of those teams could use a new quarterback, and Morash is worried that those teams will capitalize on Big Blue’s clear interest in Sanders, and dangle the prospect of drafting him themselves unless the Giants pay a big price to move up, forcing New York to sacrifice valuable assets to get its guy.

“You have now put yourself in a spot where if you’re the Titans or Browns, you can basically put the Giants in a spot where you have them dance like a dancing bear,” Morash said.

“They’re obsessed with Shedeur Sanders and not hiding it, and I think that’s a big problem heading into the draft.”
