Shaun Morash has a theory involving the newest members of the Giants coaching staff that even Evan had to admit was “interesting.”
It involves one of the greatest head coaches of all time manipulating the puppet strings behind the scenes to set up his protégé to succeed Brian Daboll.
“Brian Daboll has unknowingly been duped into planting his replacement if he has a bad year,” Morash said.
how did Morash come to this hypothesis? Just look at two of Big Blue’s most recent coaching hires in new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, and tight ends coach Tim Kelly, both members of Mike Vrabel’s staff in Tennessee, before Vrabel was let go and has not found yet found his next head coaching job.
“He has now hired 37-year-old Shan Bowen, who was Mike Vrabel’s defensive coordinator and biggest coordinator,” Morash said. “And an interesting thing happened this morning. The Giants needed a tight end coach fast because their tight end coach bolted…he says ‘I’m gonna hire Tim Kelly, who is the offensive coordinator for the Titans alongside Shane Bowen, alongside Mike Vrabel.’ I think what Brian Daboll has now done by listening to people on these trusted advisers is, if he fails this year, suddenly the most enticing job for Mike Vrabel to have is…the Giants have aligned themselves where if Brian Daboll fails, Mike Vrabel will be their head coach next year, and won’t have to worry about shuffling a lot of parts of their coaching staff.”
Who are those “trusted advisers” that Morash believes is influencing Daboll’s hires? None other than Bill Belichick!
“He’s sitting there as a master manipulator saying, ‘Yeah Dabs, I think you should hire this guy, calling Vrabel on the side saying, ‘Your pieces are in place here…just keep your eye on New York,’” Morash said. “Bill loves the New York Giants, and if he’s not gonna have it…when Bill sees the Giants succeed, he wants it to be with a guy he loves and he tutored.”
