Saquon Barkley rushed for 93 yards on 24 carries in his first game back from an ankle injury suffered in Week 2, but Shaun Morash took exception to one big play where Barkley was on the sidelines.
“That drive where he had the two big runs, him being on the sideline on 3rd-and-1, where the following play is where Daboll decides to kick,” Morash said. “Even if he's not gonna take the handoff, Saquon Barkley is killing the Bills in that drive. He needs to be on the field, even as a decoy. To be getting water on a crucial third down where Daboll’s gonna turn around and kick on fourth down was unacceptable from your star player.”
Barkley gashed Buffalo’s defense for two big runs at the start of the fourth quarter, the second putting Big Blue in field goal range. He was on the sideline on a 3rd-and-1 at the Bills 11-yard line, but an incomplete pass from Tyrod Taylor forced the Giants to settle for a chip shot field goal. For Shaun, the optics of Barkley resting during a crucial play was unacceptable.
“It pissed me off,” Shaun said. “I'm sorry, it's 3rd-and-1 in a huge part of the game, and I got Matt Breida in the game.”
