Just days before the NFL trade deadline, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had one of the least effective performances of his career Sunday.
The three-time Pro Bowler had just one catch for six yards in a 15-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Granted, Baker Mayfield wasn't especially effective in his return from a left shoulder injury, completing 20 of 31 passes for 231 yards and zero touchdowns against a stout Pittsburgh defense. With that said, eight Browns had more receiving yards than Beckham Sunday.
This continues a trend of Beckham -- once the most explosive threat in the sport -- not being able to form a consistent connection with Baker Mayfield. Returning from a torn ACL that limited him to just parts of seven games a season ago, the former Offensive Rookie of the Year has just 17 catches for 232 yards in six games this season. Beckham is averaging just 38.7 receiving yards per game in 2021, and is averaging just under 55 receiving yards per game in 29 games as a member of the Browns. By comparison, Beckham averaged 92.8 receiving yards per game in five seasons with the New York Giants.

While there's been no indication publicly that Beckham would like to be dealt, a performance like this makes you feel like a change of scenery would be mutually beneficial. Mayfield has a better rapport with multiple weapons in Cleveland's offense, and Beckham could probably make an impact for a contending team hoping to inject some juice into their offense.
The NFL's trade deadline is on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. ET. There will be a lot of people watching to see if Beckham is still a member of the now 4-4 Browns by next weekend.
