It appears as both of Brian Daboll’s coordinators are getting some looks for a promotion, as there were multiple reports this week that the Indianapolis Colts have requested permission to interview defensive coordinator Wink Martindale for their vacant head coaching position.

Martindale, 59, is in his first year as Giants DC after a decade in Baltimore, where he was linebackers coach from 2012-17 and DC from 2018-21. He has been an assistant or coordinator in the NFL since 2004, also working for the Raiders and Broncos.

If the Giants grant the request, it’s not likely to happen until at least next week, as Daboll said Monday when asked about offensive coordinator Mike Kafka interviewing for head coaching jobs that “he’s not going to do anything” this week.

“He's not going to do anything. Everything's focused on Philadelphia, so this is going to be a normal week for him, for our offense,” Daboll said of Kafka, who has been linked to the Texans, Colts, and Panthers. “I know where his focus is. So, there won't be any interviews leading up to this game.”
