Sal predicted the Giants to be contenders this season, and while he believes they might not reach that level, he still believes they have a bonafide quarterback who can lead them back to the playoffs.
“Daniel Jones is legit…that was an excellent half of football, and he’s got weapons now,” Sal said when assessing Jones’ brilliant second half on Sunday. “I firmly believe what we saw in the second half is more of an indication of what this team is.
“There is nothing Daniel Jones cannot do on the football field. He is big, he is physical, he has a strong arm, he has shown great athleticism, and he can run the ball when he needs to. All of that was on display in the second half.”
BT still has major concerns with the Giants, but Sal believes, even with Saquon Barkley out, that Jones will thrive and continue to elevate his game to help Big Blue towards another winning season.
“I saw, in that second half of football, Daniel Jones and the Giants being unlocked,” Sal said. “I think that’s what he’s gonna be moving forward. With Daboll, and with Jones being that way, they can beat anybody on any given night. Not saying they’re going to be a Super Bowl team or win the division, but they will be a playoff team, and they can beat the 49ers on Thursday night.
“It’s not like it was one game. He won a road playoff game last year. That’s a lot more than most, and it wasn’t a fluke. That could be the start of Daniel Jones really cementing himself as a top-tier quarterback in the NFL.”
