Sal loses it on Giants still running out Daniel Jones: 'It is year six! I can’t do it anymore!'
Daniel Jones was flat-out awful in Week 1, completing just 22 of 42 passes with two interceptions, including a pick six on a screen pass and a bad interception in the end zone in which he threw behind the receiver and into double coverage.
Sal Licata, who has been out on Jones since last season, has reached a breaking point with the Giants continuing to run Jones out at quarterback.
“I can’t do it anymore,” Sal said. “I’ve been begging, I’ve been screaming…I cannot sit there and tell my wife and daughter that I’m not gonna spend Sunday with them because daddy has to watch the Giants for work…and you sit there at 1:00 and turn on the game and watch Daniel Jones attempt to play quarterback. I can’t do it anymore!
“It is year six! Enough! This is why I hated the pick of Nabers. It’s not Nabers. They need a quarterback!”
Sal says Jones will eventually be cut and won’t be an NFL player in the near future, but the fact that he is still the starter entering Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll’s third season is an indictment on the current regime. Sal would have ditched Jones after last season, and can’t believe those in charge don’t see that Jones simply doesn’t have it.
“How many weeks and years do we have to watch Daniel Jones? I’m begging! I can’t do it anymore!” Sal said.
“I can’t watch him anymore…I can’t watch him attempt to play quarterback. It’s impossible to watch!”
