Sal was in the building for the Giants’ latest loss to the Cowboys, and he began Friday’s show by sounding off on what he believes is the biggest problem for Big Blue: the roster.
Specifically, the wide receivers outside of Malik Nabers, as costly drops from Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson prevented the Giants from finding the end zone the entire game.
“We shouldn’t be seeing Darius Slayton if Jalin Hyatt was a productive player,” Sal said. “Clearly, that’s a bust of a pick. And Slayton can’t catch a football.
“I’m pretty sure the primary job of a wide receiver is to catch the football...if you can’t catch a football, you shouldn’t be a wide receiver. Slayton missing drops, it’s unacceptable.”
But Sal didn’t put the entire blame on the receivers, as he called out Daniel Jones for underthrowing his receivers on several deep balls, and says the quarterback is simply someone who can put the team in position to win games, but likely won’t be able to finish the job with his arm.
“Jones stinks too...it’s the culmination of a team that isn’t good enough,” Sal said. “I don’t think he can ready a defense the right way, and he’s not an accurate passer.”
