The Giants put together a promising performance on Sunday night, coming one yard short of pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the NFL season so far.
While Sal felt vindicated in his belief that Big Blue is on the cusp of stabilizing and putting some wins together, he is also now concerned about a potential quarterback controversy brewing in New York.
“Tyrod Taylor has been better than Daniel Jones!” Sal said. “How come Tyrod Taylor can throw the ball down the field, but Daniel Jones can’t? Same offensive line, Tyrod Taylor is floating balls in there, dropping dimes in to Darius Slayton. Throwing the ball all over the field, getting Darren Waller involved, Wan’Dale Robinson. Tyrod Taylor is better than Daniel Jones right now.
“He gets rid of the football…how about the touch that Tyrod Taylor can drop the ball in? Daniel Jones hasn’t shown the ability to do that.”
Jones sat out with a neck injury, and his status moving forward is unclear. Even if he is healthy, Sal says the Giants would have a decision to make. While he believes Jones is the move in terms of the Giants’ long-term plans, he says Taylor gives Big Blue a better chance to win in the here and now.
“I firmly believe,” Sal said. “If Daniel Jones played, the Giants would have gotten their asses kicked.”
