Tight end Kelvin Benjamin walked off the Giants practice field before being released on Wednesday, and on Thursday, Shane Lemieux was carted off.
The left guard, expected to be a big part of New York’s revamped offensive line, was reportedly holding his right elbow as he was taken off on a cart, though the specifics of the injury have not yet been disclosed.
Lemieux, drafted by New York in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Oregon, was expected to be a starter this season after taking a starting role for the last nine games of the 2020 season while Will Hernandez was out with COVID.
Lemieux was seen as a catalyst for the Giants’ improved run game down the stretch of last season, and the offensive line would certainly suffer if he has to miss any extended time.
