Shaun Morash’s honeymoon phase with Brian Daboll may be wearing off, as Morash has a problem with how the head coach is handling injury updates to key players.
“He’s being borderline reckless…lying to us,” Morash said. “We have three players here, very clearly…Andrew Thomas, he’s day-to-day, reports being that he may be ready for Arizona…Then the Saquon thing. ‘I wouldn’t rule him out for San Francisco.’ I guess it’s gamesmanship, but Saquon still might not play this week, and it’s a month later!
“I think it’s almost unfair to Daniel Jones…to basically start this week that you’re optimistic for this week, and now we see he’s not even in a position that doesn’t involve contact in practice, where we all know he’s not gonna play. What’s the endgame here.”
For Morash, the handling of injury news is too similar to Bill Belichick, a route that Joe Judge took when he was head coach, a tenure that ended in disaster.
“You don’t gotta tell me the exact problem or exact weeks,” Morash said. “But don’t lie to us about player availability for the sake of gaining an advantage, when your team sucks right now anyway.
“I’m not ready to throw Brian Daboll out, and even if this season really spirals, I’m sure I’m not gonna be ready to change over coaches again as a Giants fan. But be careful with the Belichick shtick. Joe Judge did it…and that’s on the table for Daboll here. The fanbase will get sick of you really quick. I can’t believe we’re here, but the injury stuff is starting to piss me off.”
