Brian Daboll told reporters on Monday that things are looking up for Daniel Jones’ Week 6 availability, but Evan and Tiki wonder if he should even suit up given the putrid state of the offensive line.
“If he can’t stay healthy because of the hits this quarterback is taking, then this $40 million a year contract gets wasted. It’s gone,” Tiki said. “Daniel Jones is durable, he’s tough, he’s strong, you love the kid because of how he wants to be a winner. But he’s getting obliterated, and I don’t know if I would want him back there with this offensive line.
“You almost don’t want him back there for his health and his safety. The Giants need to do something different, otherwise he’s not gonna make it through the season…It’s malpractice what they’re doing with him and the offensive line. It is so bad, I would be scared to be back there.”
Jones was sacked six times on Sunday, and left the game with a neck injury after the final sack, one week after being sacked 10 times against the Seahawks. The offensive line has provided little to no protection, and Evan wonders if it is wise to expose Jones to more potential injury.
“He is facing pressure right now that is historical. Bad kind of historical,” Evan said. “He is facing a blitzkrieg of pressure almost every single time…this man got his ass kicked yesterday, and he’s now suffering from an injury. Even if it’s minor right now, and he’s good to go Sunday night, how much longer is he actually going to be able to stay healthy?”
