Victor Cruz's underdog story is one that won't be forgotten anytime soon in the Meadowlands.
The wide receiver and New Jersey's favorite son announced his retirement Tuesday. Here's a look at the top five plays over Cruz's career.
5. Super Bowl TD
In the first quarter of Super Bowl XLVI against the Patriots on Feb. 5, 2012, Eli Manning hit Cruz on a 2-yard quick-slant TD. Of course, the Giants went on to win 21-17 for their fourth Lombardi Trophy.
4. 2016 Game-Winner Vs. Cowboys
With 6:13 left in the season opener at Dallas, Cruz caught a 3-yard touchdown from Manning. Not only did it prove to be the go-ahead score in the 20-19 victory, it was Cruz's first touchdown since tearing his patellar tendon nearly two years earlier.
3. 2012 Game-Winner Vs. Redskins
Trailing 23-20 in Week 7 at MetLife Stadium, Cruz ran a go route past the Redskins' secondary and then hauled in a perfect throw from Manning en route to scoring the game-winning, 77-yard TD with 1:13 to play.
2. The 99-Yarder
Playing on Christmas Eve 2011 against the Jets, the Giants were pinned at their own 1-yard line late in the second quarter. Cruz grabbed a pass from Manning at the 11, put a nifty move on Antonio Cromartie and then raced down the sideline for the NFL record-tying play.
1. Circus Catch
Early in the fourth quarter of a Week 5 home game against the Seahawks in 2011, Cruz and Kam Chancellor both jumped high for a long pass by Manning. After the ball was tipped into the air, Cruz caught it one-handed while in midstride and then ran the final 25 yards into the end zone for the 68-yard touchdown.
