The Giants almost overcame multiple fourth-quarter mistakes, tying their game with the Vikings 24-24 after a TD and two-point conversion with 2:07 left, and they had a third-and-11 at the Minnesota 41 with 19 seconds remaining and no time outs left on the Vikes’ ledger.

And then it was back-to-back record-setting plays, the Vikings winning 27-24 on a last second field goal that was the second play out of three to set a franchise record.
On the final true offensive play of the game, Cousins hit Justin Jefferson for 17 yards to the Giants’ 42 – Jefferson’s 12th catch of the day, giving him 123 on the season, surpassing the 122 Cris Carter had in 1994 and 1995 as a new single-season Vikings record (the second record he had broken on the day, after surpassing Randy Moss’ single-season receiving yards mark earlier in the game).
Then, after a spike to stop the clock, Greg Joseph lined up for what would be a career-long and Vikings record 61-yard field goal…and he nailed it, giving him a franchise record as well and the Vikes a huge win.
The kick was Joseph’s fifth game-winner of the year and broke a three-way tie he was in with Blair Walsh and Paul Edinger for the longest FG in Vikings lore – that being 56 yards, a mark Joseph hit earlier this season in what was also his previous career-high as well.
