The Giants’ chances of landing Aaron Rodgers have reportedly increased.
According to multiple reports, the Vikings are not considering the future Hall of Famer as an option for next season, as they will move forward with J.J. McCarthy as their starting quarterback coming off of knee surgery, and will likely pursue a veteran depth piece to serve as the backup.
With Minnesota out, that leaves Big Blue and the Steelers as the last remaining landing spots for Rodgers, who reportedly had plenty of intrigue in joining Minnesota.
Now, it will come down to New York or Pittsburgh, and the Giants clearly are fine waiting to see what Rodgers decides. They have hosted Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston so far, but even with Wilson reportedly ready to sign, Joe Schoen and company have stood pat to see if Rodgers would like to stay in New York and come back to the NFC.
Rodgers was let go by the Jets after a disastrous season ended with Gang Green firing Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh. But the belief is that he still wants to play, and the Giants are desperate for a veteran quarterback to shore up the position that was a disaster for the past two seasons.
