Although better than his first NFL start, Sunday wasn’t exactly a coming out party for Giants quarterback Jake Fromm – but he did finally get his first NFL touchdown pass.

Fromm rebounded nicely from throwing a pick-six in the third quarter, leading a 14-play, 69-yard drive that ended with this Darius Slayton 22-yard touchdown on a third-and-nine:
The TD catch was Slayton’s second of the season – his other one came in Week 2 vs. Washington – and it was the Giants’ first touchdown in over 100 game minutes, their previous a Mike Glennon TD pass to Evan Engram with 3:50 left in the fourth quarter of their loss to Philadelphia on Dec. 26.
It was also the Giants’ first TD catch from a wide receiver since October 24, when Dante Pettis scored in a 25-3 win over Carolina. Big Blue wide receivers had just five of the team’s 15 receiving touchdowns this year, two from Slayton and one each from Pettis, Sterling Shepard, and John Ross.
Fromm, a former fifth-round pick of the Bills who was signed off Buffalo’s practice squad in November, looked good in his first NFL action a few weeks back, going 6-of-12 for 86 yards on one drive after replacing Mike Glennon late in Big Blue’s Dec. 19 loss to Dallas.

He earned his first career start the next week against Philly, but was 5-for-17 for 25 yards and one interception in eight drives before being pulled for Glennon, who then started and played the entire game against Chicago last week.
Fromm got a second chance with Glennon out for the season finale with a hand injury, and finished the season finale 15-for-31 for 103 yards, with one TD, two INT – the second coming on the final play of the game – and one fumble lost. He also had a team-high 53 yards rushing on five carries, including a 27-yard third down run to keep Big Blue’s final game alive.
