Former Giants WR Hakeem Nicks brushed his teeth during postgame interview

We’ve seen some odd activities from NFL players while conducting interviews over the years, most notably Terrell Owens doing sit-ups while talking with reporters.

But what about dental hygiene during interviews?

That’s apparently what former Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks did, according to Jordan Raanan, who covers Big Blue for ESPN.

Raanan, on the latest episode of Upon Further Review with Audacy’s Zach Brook, said that Nicks brushed his teeth while doing an interview, making sure his pearly whites were sparkling right away after gnawing on a mouthpiece for three hours.

“He once brushed his teeth in the middle of the locker room, not in front of the sink, for an entire interview,” Raanan said.

Nicks, who played six of his seven NFL seasons in New York and won a Super Bowl in 2012, must have been a nightmare for reporters to transcribe his interview if he had a mouthful of toothpaste, but if you want to see it on video like Owens’ sit-up interview, good luck.

“You won’t find that,” Raanan said. “It was in the middle of an impromptu, locker room after the game interview. I don’t think there’s going to be video of it.”

Nicks, whose promising career was derailed by injuries, was reportedly trying to make a comeback in 2019 after last playing in 2015. But it never panned out, meaning we won’t get any toothbrush interviews, which almost certainly would have found their way onto video in today’s world.

“It’s very rare that you see someone brush their teeth without a sink,” Raanan said.
